Egads, IKAT!! It's a pattern as old as the hills, but still looks modern in 2011. It's a happy style, colorful - festive, even. I just LOVE this dyeing technique - it uses a resist-dyeing process similar to tie-dying, which got me thinking about the wax resist used in glazing ceramics. I had never seen Ikat-glazed ceramics, but hmmm...I wondered...I googled...and look what I found!

Then I got giddy on googling (as I am wont to do...) And I found all sorts of Ikat fabulousness: like a
Liberty of London needlepoint clutch kit, and this gorgeous pic mixing Ikat fabric and wallpaper patterns...oh that yummy olive and ocean blue combo! And JUST when I thought that was enough, up popped this velvety yellow and gray letterpress card from
Wild Ink Press and that happiest teapot I've ever seen from
Sheherazade Home Store in NYC.

I think we all know what mudstar is going to try with her wax resist as soon as she comes up for air from getting ready for her holiday craft shows. BTW, y'all, my next one is just two short weeks away...11/19 and 11/20 in Princeton, NJ. Please click here for more info: YWCA Crafters' Marketplace - hope to see you there!!
